According to Capello, Atalanta Should Keep Lookman

Fabio Capello, the former manager of Real Madrid, believes that Atalanta will be a strong contender in the Serie A race if they manage to hold onto Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman.

Despite never having won the Scudetto, Atalanta BC is currently enjoying one of its most successful periods in history.

Under the guidance of Gian Piero Gasperini, Atalanta clinched their first European title by winning the Europa League in May, with Lookman scoring a memorable hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen.

During the previous Serie A season, the former Leicester City and RB Leipzig winger played a crucial role by scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists, helping Atalanta secure a fourth-place finish and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Lookman’s outstanding performances have caught the attention of top European clubs like PSG, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City, although no concrete offers have been made to Atalanta for the 26-year-old forward.

Capello believes that retaining Lookman could significantly impact Atalanta’s success in the league under Gasperini’s leadership.

“I was impressed by Atalanta’s recent signings, especially the acquisition of Bellanova. If Lookman remains, Gasperini’s team will be a force to reckon with,” Capello stated in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via Calcio Atalanta.

Atalanta started their Serie A campaign on a high note with a convincing 4-0 win over Lecce, but they faced a setback in the following match, suffering a 2-1 defeat against Torino.
