The Governor of Katsina State Resumes Duty after One-Month Break and Outlines Plans for N30bn Irrigation Project

To elevate the agricultural sector in Katsina State, the government intends to invest N30 billion in irrigation farming.

Governor Dikko Radda made this announcement upon his return from a month-long vacation, expressing his readiness to lead the state towards progress.

The primary objective is to enhance irrigation farming practices, allowing farmers to cultivate throughout the year rather than solely relying on the rainy season.

Radda disclosed that a portion of the funds will be allocated to establish mechanized agricultural centers in all 34 local government areas of the state.

These centers will offer training to farmers on modern agricultural techniques and provide necessary agricultural equipment.

During his trip to China, the governor focused on building partnerships and attracting investments to enhance the agricultural sector of Katsina State.

Radda stated, “Given that approximately 90% of our population is involved in agriculture, these collaborations will have a significant positive impact on our citizens and bolster our state’s economy.”

In addition, the governor outlined plans to embark on a tour across the state’s three senatorial zones to engage stakeholders in discussions regarding community-focused projects.

Through town hall meetings, this tour aims to ensure that government initiatives are aligned with the needs and aspirations of the populace.

Radda emphasized, “We recognize the challenges faced by our people. I will travel across the state to conduct town hall meetings, listen to the grievances of the public, and tailor government actions to accommodate their needs.”

He underscored the administration’s commitment to alleviating the hardships faced by the people, particularly through various empowerment programs.

Furthermore, the governor expressed solidarity with victims of bandit attacks in the state and pledged increased government efforts to tackle security issues.

There are plans to enlist and train young men from specific localities for the Katsina Security Watch Corps, reinforcing the state’s security apparatus.

Radda also extended gratitude to the public for their patience and declared the administration’s dedication to enhancing their welfare.

He commended his deputy, Alhaji Faruk Jobe, for his outstanding leadership while serving as the acting governor and

thanked the State House of Assembly for its cooperation in revamping the state’s governance.
