Entrepreneurs Recognized and Rewarded through Collaboration of Companies

A partnership between Acme Multimedia Integration, LAPO Microfinance Bank Plc, and Grand Oak aims to acknowledge and reward young entrepreneurs making significant contributions to the economic growth of Lagos State. This collaboration has led to the organization of the fifth edition of the Lagos Young Entrepreneurs Award.

During a recent press conference held in Lagos, Saheed Okeowo, the Chief Executive Officer and Creative Director of the LAYE2024 Award, made the announcement. He emphasized the importance of this award in honoring the entrepreneurial drive of the youth in Lagos and inspiring the future generation of business leaders.

Okeowo mentioned, “The fifth edition of the Lagos Young Entrepreneurs Award is being unveiled today. This award, which commenced five years ago, aims to motivate the younger crop of entrepreneurs, recognize diligence, and encourage entrepreneurship.”

Pointing out Lagos State’s position as the fifth-largest economy in Africa, Okeowo credited entrepreneurs for driving this feat, underscoring the need for their acknowledgment and celebration.

He highlighted the LAYE Awards’ track record of nurturing, fostering, and promoting budding talents in entrepreneurship, with more than 100 individuals empowered throughout the state over the years.

Scheduled for October, the criteria for entrepreneurs to be eligible for the award were outlined by Okeowo.

“To qualify for any of our award categories, candidates must have been residents of Lagos State and operating their business here for the past five years. They should be around 45 years old, serving as the CEO of a registered business entity, and must have received nominations and votes,” he elaborated.

The spokesperson for LAYE2024, Ademola Adesokan, shared that there have been requests to extend the program to other states and broaden the age range, but the current focus remains on Lagos.

“We have been inundated with requests from individuals in other states seeking an expansion of the program to allow their participation. There are also calls to widen the age eligibility criteria, but our concentration remains on our established framework and objectives,” remarked Adesokan.
