Acting Chairman, Damagum, Asserts Resilience Amid PDP Crisis

Defying calls for his resignation, Ambassador Umar Damagum, the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasized that he cannot be coerced into stepping down.

According to Damagum, the relentless demands for his resignation only serve to bolster his standing within the party.

During the inauguration of the National Reconciliation and Disciplinary Committees, the acting chairman criticized individuals propagating falsehoods about the operations of the National Working Committee.

Addressing his detractors, Damagum asserted, “Let me make it clear to those fixated on rumors about my role – I refuse to be intimidated. The more you mention my name, the more my support grows.”

Recent reports suggested that the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) was contemplating disciplinary action against Damagum and National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, for an alleged correspondence to the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, deemed as an act of disloyalty.

Concerns were raised by some party officials, including members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), who advocated for measures to be taken against Damagum and Anyanwu.
