Enugu Security Forces Neutralize 27 Suspected Kidnappers and IPOB Members

A recent operation conducted by a joint security force in Enugu State has resulted in the elimination of 27 individuals believed to be involved in kidnapping activities and associated with the Eastern Security Network, a group linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Governor Peter Mbah’s administration has taken a strong stance against Biafra separatist groups and criminal elements, leading to these actions by the security agencies.

Over the past two weeks, security operatives engaged in shootouts with these suspects at various locations across the state, as reported by the Governor’s media office.

Among those neutralized were individuals associated with Simon Ekpa, also known as Auto Pilot IPOB, who operates from Finland.

The statement highlighted that residents are calling for the enforcement of the state’s criminal code to demolish properties used as hideouts by criminals, with the aim of deterring future criminal activities.

In a recent successful operation in Ogbeke Nike, a joint security team led by Superintendent Onochie Ezeh rescued kidnapped victims and eliminated a gang of seven kidnappers who were using a large poultry farm as a base to conceal hostages.

The ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements, which include kidnappers, unknown gunmen, and other unlawful actors believed to be crossing over from neighboring states, are part of the security task force’s mandate.

Superintendent Ezeh emphasized the dedication of the security team established by Governor Mbah to combat kidnappings and armed activities, noting the significant progress made in enhancing security and combating crime.

The team’s focus is on achieving peace and security for all residents, with Ezeh stating that they have disrupted several criminal operations and identified numerous hideouts used for criminal activities.

The statement quoted Dr. Kate Pamela, one of the rescued victims, recounting the harrowing experience endured during captivity and expressing the need for justice and security measures to prevent future incidents.
