Swearing-in of Electoral and Assistant Officers by OSSIEC for LG Poll

Recently, the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) conducted the swearing-in ceremony of Electoral Officers (EOs) and Assistant Electoral Officers (AEOs).

The purpose of this swearing-in is to prepare for the upcoming local government election scheduled for February 22, 2025.

During the swearing-in ceremony, Hashim Abioye, the Chairman of OSSIEC, emphasized the importance of this step in achieving the objectives of the election.

He reaffirmed the Commission’s dedication to ensuring that the February 2025 elections are conducted freely, credibly, and are widely accepted.

In his address to the Electoral Officers and their Assistants, the OSSIEC Chairman urged them to maintain focus and dedication to their responsibilities, emphasizing that they are now obligated to the Commission.

He reminded the officers of their duty to serve the entire state with honesty and integrity throughout the LG elections, encouraging them to report any concerns requiring clarification directly to OSSIEC.

Regarding local government autonomy, he clarified that the State electoral body is the only entity constitutionally authorized to conduct local government elections.

Looking ahead, the OSSIEC boss assured that the Commission will meticulously adhere to due processes to ensure the delivery of credible outcomes that will effectively govern grassroots communities.

He expressed confidence that the upcoming election under OSSIEC’s oversight will set a benchmark for its flawless execution and historical significance.
