In a surprising turn of events recently, Chike Osebuka, a popular singer, generously gave a troll N1m after the individual made a derogatory remark about him on social media.
The troll, known as Daniel Lawal on X account with the username @hate_ofx, insinuated that Chike’s success was mainly attributed to the influence of the late Mohbad. This reference was made in connection to a collaboration between Mohbad and Chike on a song titled ‘Egwu’. The comment read, “Mohbad made you. If not for Mohbad, where would you find 40 million streams?”
Chike’s response to the troll was firm, stating, “Now I question if you were raised properly. If your mother neglected to teach you manners, she should have at least emphasized the importance of research. I could have sent you like 1M right now, to ease your hunger and clear your vision, but your behavior will lead to your downfall. Let the good rest in peace.”
Subsequently, Chike went ahead and transferred N1m to the troll’s account.
The public’s reaction to Chike’s action was mixed. While some believed it might embolden more trolling behavior, others viewed it as a kind gesture from the artist.
In light of this incident, other users started trolling celebrities in anticipation of receiving similar rewards. One user, gunzify, targeted Adekunle Gold with a disrespectful comment, “@adekunlegold you dey craze.” However, Adekunle Gold dampened any hopes of a monetary gift with a simple reply, “You’re right.”
