Deadline given to NPFL clubs to create official websites

All Nigeria Premier Football League clubs have been instructed by the league’s board to establish functioning websites within the next month. This directive was a key outcome of a summit for club media directors held in Makurdi, Benue State on Friday.

The aim of this initiative, according to the league, is to enhance engagement on social media platforms and generate revenue streams through these channels.

In a statement on its website, the NPFL shared, “During an interactive session with club media directors, NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi conveyed that clubs yet to launch websites will be formally contacted to do so within the next month.”

Owumi also urged media officers to focus on personal development to bolster their skill set and effectively contribute to their clubs’ interactions with fans and communities.

Various speakers at the workshop included NPFL Director of Media Harry Iwuala, who discussed strategies for being an efficient club media officer, and multimedia journalist Andrew Randa, who emphasized utilizing multimedia tools to enhance club media functions.

NPFL Head of Legal and Compliance Uche Egbe provided insights into the relevant codes and regulatory frameworks that govern club officers’ conduct.

Additional speakers at the event were Lazarus Ibeabuchi, the Public Relations head at StarTimes, the league’s official broadcast partner, and Andrew Ekejiuba from GTI Assets Management.

The upcoming 2024/25 season is set to kick off on August 31, with a match between defending champions Enugu Rangers and Federation Cup victors El-Kanemi Warriors.
