FCCPC takes action against table water company in Abuja

Following a consumer complaint regarding the consumption of expired sachet water containing microbes, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has sealed Fabsi Table Water in Kubwa, Federal Capital Territory.

The company was found to have significantly violated consumer protection regulations, according to the commission’s official statement released on Friday.

Fabsi Table Water was reported to have failed in providing crucial information such as production dates, expiration dates, and batch numbers on its products.

It was noted by the commission that the company lacked necessary compliance records essential for ensuring product safety and quality.

”Despite claiming a two-month shelf life for its products, Fabsi Table Water could not verify this claim due to the absence of production and expiration dates on its packaging.

The company’s justification for this lapse, citing printing challenges, was deemed unacceptable by the FCCPC.

”Ensuring accurate and complete product labeling is a fundamental requirement as per regulations,” stated the commission.

The FCCPC has taken temporary steps by suspending operations at the company’s production facility and summoning its management for further investigation.
