We’re Determined to Hold Perpetrators Accountable for Crude Oil Theft, Says Reps Committee

Issuing a stern warning, the House of Representatives Special Committee on Crude Oil Thefts has made it clear that individuals involved in undermining the country’s oil resources will be dealt with according to the law.

In a statement he personally endorsed, Alhaji Ado Alhassan Doguwa, the committee’s chairman, emphasized, “We cannot allow the Tinubu-led government, along with the APC, to continue relying on extensive borrowing due to significant leaks in the oil and gas production process.”

He pointed out that this undesirable activity is primarily a result of youth unrest and “the unacceptable destruction of vital infrastructure by criminals and vandals in the creeks, which must cease.”

Doguwa revealed that the committee was tasked by the House Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, to identify the root causes of the issues affecting the oil and gas sector.

“Our commitment is to shield the current administration led by Tinubu from these regrettable events in oil-producing regions. We are fully dedicated to holding accountable the perpetrators and their associates in political circles,” he asserted.
