Exciting Announcement: Ogun State to Host Inaugural National Transporters Game in October

Anticipate the first-ever National Transporters Game hosted by Ogun State in October 2024, stated Wale Sodehinde, the Project Director of the event.

During a recent stadium inspection in Sagamu and Ikenne, Sodehinde engaged with national transport leaders to discuss the upcoming one-week event.

The primary objective of the game is fostering unity among transporters in Nigeria and reshaping the public’s negative perceptions towards them, explained Sodehinde.

Giving credit to Dayo Ogundipe and former Senator Gbolahan Dada for conceptualizing the idea in 2017, Sodehinde highlighted that eight transport unions out of the targeted twelve have already confirmed their participation.

“Our aim is to promote unity, camaraderie, and advancement within the key players driving the country’s economy,” stated Sodehinde, emphasizing the pivotal role transporters play in Nigeria’s economic landscape.

While initially expecting the participation of 12 transport unions, the positive response from eight unions signifies a promising start. Sodehinde expressed optimism that with media coverage, more unions will join the initiative.

Among the facilities inspected were Gateway International Stadium in Sagamu, Remo Star Stadium in Ikenne, and the National Youth Service Corps Camp in Sagamu, designated to accommodate participants during the event.
