A Message from the Governor of Cross River State to Local Government Aides

Upholding their primary responsibility with unwavering dedication and a vision for progress in the state was the call given by the Governor of Cross River State to the newly unveiled local government service commission.

During the inauguration ceremony of the 7-member commission in Calabar on Thursday, Governor Otu emphasized the crucial role of local government in advancing his administration’s broader agenda.

He characterized the unveiling as more than just a routine procedure, emphasizing its significance in the strategic direction of his administration aligned with the people’s First agenda.

Expressing his views, he stated, “This exercise is politically imperative, socio-economically expedient, and administratively wise.”

“The local government has been a significant challenge in the system since I assumed office as Governor,” remarked Otu, highlighting this challenge as a key consideration in the meticulous selection of commission members.

The Governor emphasized that the appointment of the commission members was based on a thorough evaluation of merit and experience, ensuring that only individuals with the required dedication and qualities were chosen.

He emphasized, “Your appointment is not merely a recognition; it comes with a responsibility. We have chosen each of you with caution because we are confident in your abilities to tackle the issues our local government system faces.”

Otu further underlined the importance of delivering democracy dividends through an all-encompassing government.

“We are facing a significant challenge: to guarantee an all-encompassing government that includes everyone,” he observed.
