The Newly Promoted Police Officers in FCT Receive Decorations

A total of 620 Inspectors who were promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police were decorated by the Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh, on Wednesday.

These inspectors were part of the 7,194 officers promoted by the Police Service Commission on August 2, 2024.

Announced in a statement on Thursday by the FCT Police Command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the decorations took place at the command headquarters.

The statement mentioned, “In light of the promotion of 620 inspectors within the FCT Police Command to the substantive rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP11), Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, carried out the decoration ceremony on August 14, 2024, at the command headquarters.”

Adeh relayed that CP Igweh urged the newly promoted officers to exemplify the duties expected at their upgraded positions.

She stated, “During his speech, the CP expressed gratitude towards the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Service Commission for the commendable promotion. As he extended his sincere congratulations to the officers, he emphasized the importance of handling the responsibilities and challenges associated with their new ranks in a professional manner.”

Furthermore, Adeh mentioned that the CP advised residents to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

Adeh explained, “He took the opportunity to encourage the FCT residents to stay vigilant and utilize the police emergency lines for reporting any incidents of concern.”.
