Curfew lifted in Jos by Plateau State governor

The previous curfew placed on Jos, the capital city of Plateau State, has been lifted by Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

Announcing this decision on Thursday was the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, in a statement issued by the governor’s office.

The statement conveyed the following message: “The Plateau State Government has now completely removed the curfew that was in effect in Jos-Bukuru Metropolis. This decision comes after the peaceful behavior exhibited by residents and an improved security situation.

“Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang had initially imposed a 24-hour curfew in response to attempts by troublemakers to disrupt the nationwide protest within the state, following thorough consultations with security agencies.”

Furthermore, he mentioned “The decision to lift the curfew was reached after a thorough review with the security agencies, allowing the citizens to go back to their daily economic and lawful activities while upholding public order.

“Governor Mutfwang sincerely thanked the people of Plateau State for their unwavering patriotism and cooperation during this trying period and assured them of his continuous dedication to their welfare.

“He also praised the security personnel for their commitment and effective implementation of the curfew, encouraging continued cooperation between the residents and security agencies to ensure the protection of lives and properties throughout the state.”

Our correspondent reported that the curfew was enforced in the city due to an effort by miscreants to instigate chaos in some areas of Jos after the #EndBadGovernance protest in Nigeria.
