EFCC Denies Hacking of X Account

The Economic and Financial Crimes Crime Commission has refuted claims that its X account (formerly Twitter) was hacked.

Rumors circulated that cybercriminals, who threatened to launch a cyber attack against the EFCC, had breached the agency’s X account.

Reports suggested that certain internet fraudsters accused the anti-graft commission of not adhering to constitutional standards when combating suspicious online activities among Nigerians.

Upon inspection on Thursday morning, the account was found to be unavailable.

Nevertheless, the agency’s website and its other active social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram remained operational.

In a statement to our correspondent on Thursday, the EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, explained that the account’s unavailability was due to a recent update.

He reassured the public that the account would soon be accessible.

Oyewale stated, “We are currently updating our records on the account. There was no hacking involved. It will be up and running shortly.”
