Freedom Regained by Kidnapped Aides of Kogi LG Chair

After being abducted two weeks ago, the three aides of the caretaker chairman of Kabba Bunu Local Government Area in Kogi State, Zacchaeus Dare, have been set free.

The chairman, along with his aides and two students from Kogi State University, Kabba, were kidnapped while traveling on the Okene/Kabba road.

Fortunately, the chairman managed to escape after a short period, when the kidnappers left him behind as he could no longer keep up with their pace.

The trio of aides who were kidnapped have now been released, together with four others who were held captive for the past 12 days.

Among those set free are Omonisaiye Andrew, Mr. Olorundare Ojo, a councillorship candidate for Egbeda ward in Kabba/Bunu LGA, and Sunday Ajayi, the Youth leader of the All Progressives Congress in Egbeda ward.

In his comments to our correspondent, Dare expressed his gratitude to God and thanked the Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, for his swift response.

“I want to sincerely commend the Nigerian Army, Police, DSS, and both professional and local hunters for their bravery and decisive action that led to the rescue operation.

“I am also thankful to the supportive people of Kabba Bunu LGA and the wider state community whose prayers contributed to the safe release of those who were abducted,” he mentioned.

He mentioned that his aides and others who were kidnapped were located near the Oyo mining site at Obajana, urging the security agencies to continue searching the forest in that region for any potential additional discoveries.
