Denial of Allegations: Ibom Air Responds to Accusations

Allegations of ticket racketeering at its Port Harcourt station have been dismissed by Ibom Air, the Akwa-Ibom State-owned airline. The company maintains that such claims are unfounded and without basis.

Aniekan Essienette, the General Manager of Marketing and Communication, released a statement in Uyo, the state capital. In the statement, it was emphasized that Ibom Air upholds strict ethical standards, prohibiting staff from partaking in any form of corruption or racketeering. Any attempts to undermine these standards are investigated and dealt with accordingly.

Regarding flight operations, Ibom Air ensures that check-ins close 45 minutes before departure for domestic flights, in line with international standards. Additionally, the airline adheres to IATA’s guidelines for handling ‘Go-show’ passengers.

The statement from Ibom Air stated, “Our staff maintain the highest level of integrity and are dedicated to providing fair and transparent service to our customers. We vehemently deny the baseless accusations and remain committed to maintaining transparency in our ticketing processes.”

Essienette further highlighted the company’s adherence to IATA guidelines for ‘Go-show’ passengers, ensuring that such passengers are accommodated based on seat availability after serving all pre-booked and on-time passengers.

Concluding the statement, Ibom Air reiterated its stance on ethical standards and integrity, promising to uphold transparency in its operations and take appropriate actions against any attempts to compromise these values.
