Reports from Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, reveal a chilling incident where a 14-year-old boy, identified as Malik Kareem, was gruesomely beheaded in what is suspected to be a ritualistic killing.
The shocking event took place in the Olorisaoko community within the Akinyele Local Government Area, plunging the entire vicinity into a state of chaos and disbelief.
According to investigations conducted by a correspondent from PUNCH Online, the young victim had recently completed his final exams at Iyana Community Grammar School, Olode, Moniya, Ibadan under the West Africa Examination Council.
Several sources disclosed that the boy, together with three of his peers, had made contact with an elusive Muslim cleric on that fateful day to partake in a money-making ritual.
Unbeknownst to the victim, the other boys had conspired with the cleric to sacrifice him in exchange for wealth.
Reliable family sources narrated, “I was at home when my sibling hurriedly came to relay the tragic news. We rushed to the scene, only to find the lifeless body of the victim without his head. It was a harrowing sight.
“The gruesome discovery was made at the cleric’s residence, where the boy was brutally murdered and decapitated. His head had already been disposed of.”
“The trio had arranged with the cleric beforehand to use their friend for a ritual sacrifice. The barbaric act was carried out, and they confessed their plans to us,” the source added.
Another family insider revealed, “Infuriated locals have set the cleric’s house ablaze, showcasing their anger and disgust towards the heinous crime.”
Responding to inquiries, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, affirmed that investigations into the incident were underway.
“We have initiated investigations into this distressing incident, and updates will be provided as progress is made,” Osifeso assured.
