The Blue Line in Lagos Increases Daily Trips to 72

Starting today (Monday), the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line will be increasing its number of trips per day from 54 to 72.

Abimbola Akinajo, the Managing Director of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, announced this in a statement on the agency’s social media account published on Sunday.

The current schedule for Sunday operations will remain unchanged, as mentioned by Akinajo.

“Passengers on the Blue Line trains will now reach their destination between Marina and Mile 2 in just about 18 minutes, compared to the previous travel time of 25 minutes.

“This means there will be a train available every 18 minutes in both directions, allowing commuters to better plan their journeys,” she explained.

In addition, a 25% discount on fares has been introduced for passengers traveling within the off-peak period, which is between 10 am and 4 pm daily.

“The updated train schedule aims to reduce travel times, encourage more people to use the trains during off-peak hours, and cut down on transportation costs,” she noted.

The new timetables can be found on the LAMATA website, at stations, and on the agency’s social media platforms,” she added.

Since its launch for passenger service on September 4, 2023, the Blue Line has served nearly two million passengers, according to LAMATA.
