Bode George urges Tinubu to reveal the truth about fuel subsidy to Nigerians

President Bola Tinubu has been urged by Bode George, a prominent member of the People Democratic Party, to openly disclose the facts concerning fuel subsidy to the Nigerian populace.

As the former deputy national chairman of PDP, George emphasized that Nigerians have the right to know whether the Tinubu administration is covertly continuing to subsidize fuel or not.

Speculations have arisen regarding the reimplementation of fuel subsidy by the Federal government, with former governors Isa Yuguda of Bauchi and Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna alleging that the government is currently spending more on fuel subsidy than in the past.

It was noted that Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, disclosed that Nigeria expends $600 million monthly on fuel imports.

During an appearance on Arise Tv’s Morning Show on Friday, George criticized the lack of transparency exhibited by the Federal government concerning fuel subsidy payments.

Expressing his concern, George stated, “I am deeply troubled by the ongoing situation in this particular sector. Conflicting reports suggest the presence and absence of fuel subsidy. It’s crucial to reveal the truth to the citizens, as transparency is our basic right. Understanding the reality will garner support for the government’s initiatives. The NNPC is government-owned, representing all Nigerians. We demand clarity on its activities.”
