The FA appoints Lee Carsley as interim manager to replace Southgate for England job

In preparation for the Nations League campaign kicking off in September, the English Football Association (FA) has chosen Lee Carsley to take the helm as interim manager for the England national team.

Stepping into his new role, Carsley will guide the Three Lions in upcoming matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

Following Gareth Southgate’s recent departure as head coach, Carsley will be at the forefront after Southgate’s eight-year tenure concluded post Spain’s victory over England in the Euro 2024 final.

Expressing his sentiments on the appointment, Carsley remarked, “I am humbled to lead this England squad temporarily, given my deep familiarity with the players and the international football cycle.”
