MTN’s N1bn Donation and Digital Devices Contribution to Food Support Programme Applauded by Shettima

Extending a warm welcome to the N1 billion donation and 4,600 digital devices contribution by telecommunications giant, MTN Nigeria, Vice President Kashim Shettima praised the company’s support towards the Federal Government’s Food Support Programme and distribution of digital devices to schools.

Shettima commended MTN’s gesture as a notable contribution to the government’s efforts in alleviating hardship in the country, highlighting the company’s dedication to fostering the Nigerian economy’s growth.

During a courtesy visit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday, Shettima expressed his pride in MTN’s consistency and commitment to national progress, addressing Mr. Ernest Ndukwe, the Chairman of MTN Nigeria.

Details of the meeting were disclosed by Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Communications, in a statement titled ‘VP Shettima seeks more support as MTN donates N1bn, 4600 digital devices.’

Assuring the judicious management of the donation by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and the Office of the National Security Adviser, Shettima stated that the MTN team would collaborate with his office in establishing beneficiary criteria and facilitating the distribution of digital devices to secondary schools nationwide.

Shettima expressed optimism that MTN’s contribution would significantly aid the government’s initiatives to address national challenges, particularly in supporting educational requirements for underprivileged individuals.

Encouraging other companies to follow MTN’s lead in Corporate Social Responsibility, the Vice President affirmed the administration’s pro-business stance under President Bola Tinubu and assured that its policies would soon demonstrate tangible outcomes.

Praising MTN’s resilience amid industry changes, Shettima extended sincere gratitude for the company’s benevolent gesture on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.

In his remarks, the Chairman of MTN Nigeria lauded the Federal Government’s economic revitalization efforts through various initiatives and pledged the company’s ongoing support to the administration in alignment with the ‘AMBITION 2025 strategy.’

Emphasizing the objective behind the N1 billion donation to assist vulnerable communities, Ndukwe highlighted MTN Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing digital literacy in secondary schools to boost students’ creativity, analytical skills, adaptability, and access to the latest information in science and technology.
