How my husband, Tinubu, others fought for Nigeria’s democracy

The Fight for Nigeria’s Democracy by Tinubu and Others

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, shared insights into the involvement of her husband, Olusola, and President Bola Tinubu, among others, in the struggle for Nigeria’s democracy. She made these revelations during an interview on the Channels Television program, Inside Sources.

The recent #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest, which commenced on August 1, 2024, has waned in popularity after about a week, sparked by economic challenges affecting the quality of life for many Nigerians.

The organizers and protesters’ demands include the reinstatement of fuel subsidies, lower food prices, and reduced governance costs, among other issues.

Adeyeye described the current state of Nigeria as a reflection of six decades of decline, reminiscing about the Nigeria she knew during her youth and the efforts made by her husband and others, including President Tinubu, in the fight for democracy.

She highlighted the sacrifices made by her husband and others in advocating for democracy, citing their relentless efforts, even at the expense of personal and family commitments, to push for democratic change in Nigeria.

Adeyeye emphasized the need for a restoration of Nigerian values, urging parents, educational institutions, and religious bodies to play a more active role in nurturing these values to rebuild society.

She pointed out the challenges she faced upon returning to Nigeria after decades abroad, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector and healthcare delivery, attributing the country’s current state to long-standing systemic issues and decay over the years.

In conclusion, Adeyeye stressed the importance of transparency, the eradication of corruption, and the collective responsibility of all citizens in building a better Nigeria.
