Concerns raised by Gov Alia on recent unprovoked violence in Benue communities


Expressing deep sorrow, Benue State’s leader, Hyacinth Alia, has voiced his distress over a fresh undirected assault on Ayati Village in Ukum Local Government Area, resulting in the reported loss of numerous lives.

Through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, and shared with the press in Makurdi on Friday, the governor strongly denounced the recent spate of attacks.

In light of the relentless assaults on unarmed civilians by armed criminals, the governor conveyed his concern, noting that such atrocious deeds persist in the state despite heightened security measures.

Governor Alia resolved firmly to continue deploying legal mechanisms to safeguard the people of Benue, particularly in Ukum, an area that has recently borne the brunt of these attacks.

Alia urged security forces to enhance their vigilance and ensure that communities at risk are not left unattended.

Offering his condolences to the families impacted by the tragic incident, the governor extended his prayers for divine comfort upon them.

He affirmed to the populace that his administration will persist in exploring discreet and transparent approaches to help Sankera return to a path of peace and collective happiness.
