Nasarawa State Government Commits to Implement N70,000 Minimum Wage for Civil Servants – Official

Assuring the public, the Nasarawa State Government has confirmed its readiness to enforce the new minimum wage of ₦70,000 for its civil servants.

The announcement was made by Mr. Peter Ahemba, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Governor Abdullahi Sule, while visiting the Correspondents’ Chapel in Lafia on Tuesday.

Mr. Ahemba emphasized that the adoption of the new minimum wage would not only boost the well-being of civil servants but also enhance their productivity within the state.

“The approval of the ₦70,000 minimum wage is now a reality, following President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s consent to the payment to workers,” Mr. Ahemba highlighted.

He further stated, “Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration is fully prepared to ensure that civil servants in the state receive the ₦70,000 minimum wage. The governor has reiterated his commitment to implementing the new wage rate.”

Regarding the ongoing nationwide protests, Mr. Ahemba encouraged citizens to choose dialogue and peace while acknowledging that the government was already addressing some of the concerns raised.

“While citizens have the constitutional right to express their views through peaceful protests, the government will not condone any criminal acts, such as property looting disguised as protests,” he cautioned.

Ahemba indicated that Nasarawa State had not witnessed significant protests mainly due to Governor Sule’s effective policies and initiatives aimed at reducing the challenges faced by the populace.

He reiterated the importance of engaging in discussions as the preferred method to resolve issues, as opposed to resorting to protests.

Additionally, the Senior Special Assistant highlighted the administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives for improving power supply, crucial for the state’s industrial and socio-economic activities.

He also showcased the government’s notable achievements in infrastructure development, including the construction of a flyover and underpass in Lafia, aimed at decongesting traffic and enhancing the aesthetics of the state capital.
