UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer engaged in a heated exchange with Elon Musk, the billionaire behind social media platform X (previously Twitter), who claimed that Britain was on the brink of civil war.
The tech magnate’s statements sparked a dispute with Downing Street regarding the recent riots that have erupted in UK cities, with allegations that social media platforms are exacerbating the turmoil.
Starmer had issued a warning against mob violence by far-right groups targeting asylum seekers in the UK.
In response to the violence, Musk commented on his social media platform, predicting, “Civil war is inevitable.”
A spokesperson for Starmer unequivocally dismissed Musk’s statement, emphasizing that there was no basis for such a claim.
In a reaction to one of Starmer’s posts on X, Musk questioned the Prime Minister’s decision to enhance security measures for mosques.
