On Saturday, November 16, 2024, the upcoming local government elections in Ogun State are scheduled to take place.
In a statement released in Abeokuta on Tuesday, Mr Babatunde Osibodu, the Chairman of Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission, disclosed this information.
According to Osibodu, “The release of guidelines for the elections and a stakeholders meeting is planned for Thursday, August 8, 2024, followed by the commencement of political party campaigns on Friday, August 9.
“Political parties are also expected to conduct their party primaries between Monday, August 26 and Monday, September 9, 2024”.
Last month, Mr Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, refuted a circulating statement on social media that falsely claimed the local government elections in the state would be held on October 26, 2024.
The elected local government officials concluded their tenure about a week ago.
