New card from Airtel SmartCash enhances payment options

A new partnership has been forged between SmartCash Payment Service Bank, a subsidiary of Airtel Nigeria, and Touch and Pay, a provider of automated payment solutions and owner of Cowry Card.

This collaboration allows SmartCash customers to conveniently top up their Cowry cards using the SmartCash mobile app, facilitating cashless transportation payments.

In a statement released on Monday, the digital bank highlighted that the introduction of this new feature is aimed at fulfilling the social needs of the public, making transportation easier, and supporting the cashless initiative of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Speaking about the partnership, Ayotunde Kuponiyi, the CEO of SmartCash PSB, reiterated the company’s dedication to fostering innovation to progress digital payment solutions.

“At SmartCash PSB, we are committed to enhancing convenience and accessibility for all individuals, irrespective of their location. By incorporating Cowry card top-ups into our mobile app and USSD channel, we are striving to improve commuter convenience in line with our mission of providing customers with efficient payment services. This initiative is aligned with Nigeria’s vision of a cashless society,” Kuponiyi explained.

The integration of Cowry Card into the SmartCash app signifies another step towards efficient and convenient payment systems in support of the national objective of a more digitized economy.

SmartCash has made this seamless top-up process accessible to all its customers, accessible through either the SmartCash mobile app or the USSD code *939#.
