Commitment of Kano Group to Sustain Hunger Protest

In Kano State, the Nigerian Patriotic Front Movement, Northern Chapter, a participant in the #EndBad Governance In Nigeria protest, has affirmed its resolve to prolong the demonstration.

During a phone conversation with Arewa PUNCH in Kano on Sunday, the Secretary of the NPFM, Comrade Anas Adamu, revealed this decision.

He highlighted that the group’s determination stems from President Bola Tinubu’s failure to address crucial demands even after four days of the nationwide protests.

“We acknowledge Nigeria’s severe governance and economic challenges, which have worsened over the past 15 months under the leadership of President Asiwaju Bala Ahmed Tinubu,” he remarked.

He criticized the President’s recent address, labeling it as mere rhetoric devoid of substantial responses to their demands.

Expressing dissatisfaction, he stated, “We remain unfulfilled with the President’s remarks. Hence, we intend to persist with the protest once the curfew is lifted.”

“One of our primary demands is a reduction in petrol prices to the levels before Tinubu’s administration (N160 to N200). The current exorbitant rates, ranging from N720 to over N1000, are unaffordable even for the dwindling middle class.”

Highlighting their commitment to lawfulness, he acknowledged that the protest was halted due to the imposition of a curfew by the state government.
