Nigerian Favour Ofili Secures Spot in Women’s 200m Final at Paris Olympics


In an impressive display at the Stade de France in Paris, Nigerian athlete Favour Ofili successfully advanced to the final of the women’s 200 meters event during the Olympic Games.

Running a season-best time of 22.05 seconds, Ofili secured her place by finishing behind Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia, the new women’s 100m champion, in the first heat of the semi-finals.

She now joins seven other competitors in the final, positioned at third place among the finalists.

Despite being ranked 31st globally, with a personal best of 21.96, Ofili stands as the underdog in the final lineup.

In comparison, Alfred clocked 21.98 in the semi-finals, while Gabrielle Thomas of the U.S. secured a time of 21.86 to win the second heat of the semis.
