Why Arsenal Refused to Let Striker Leave Arteta’s Squad – Insights from Romano

Providing insight into the situation, football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shed light on Arsenal’s decision to block striker Eddie Nketiah from moving to Marseille.

With Marseille eyeing Nketiah as a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who recently joined Al-Qadsia in the Saudi Pro League, they made a €27 million offer that was turned down by Arsenal.

Romano explained that Arsenal is holding out for a minimum of €35 million, along with a sell-on clause, for Nketiah’s transfer.

“Arsenal is adamant about receiving a fee of €35m plus a sell-on clause for Eddie Nketiah,” Romano shared.

“This is the reason they opted to reject Marseille’s €27m bid, as disclosed on Friday. As of now, there is no agreement between the two clubs, prompting Marseille to explore alternative options,” he added on X on Saturday
