PANDEF urges protesters to end demonstration following successful advocacy

Recognizing the peaceful conduct of youths, ex-agitators, and other groups in the Niger Delta region during the recent nationwide protest against governance issues, the Pan Niger Delta Forum expressed appreciation.

In a statement sent to the press in Port Harcourt on Saturday, PANDEF’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Robinson, urged the groups to conclude the protest as their voices have been acknowledged.

Citing instances of vandalism and violence in certain parts of the country, Robinson emphasized the importance of halting the protest to prevent further chaos.

Expressing concern that criminals might exploit the situation to disrupt peace and order, Robinson stressed the need for vigilance.

The forum’s statement highlighted, “PANDEF lauds the people of the Niger Delta region, particularly the leaders of ethnic youth organizations, community-based and civil society groups, activists, ex-agitators, and the youth for maintaining peace in the region during the protests.

“Given the incidents of violence and unrest in various parts of the country, PANDEF calls for the cessation of protests in some states of the region to prevent unlawful activities from undermining the prevailing peace.

“The message has been delivered. Your concerns have been noted. We urge government authorities at all levels to promptly address the challenges faced by citizens.”
