185 Prison Inmates Released by Gombe CJ

185 inmates from different custodial centers in Gombe State have been freed by the Gombe State Criminal Justice and Inquiry Committee under the leadership of Chief Judge, Justice Halima Mohammed.

The decision to release the inmates was part of an effort to reduce overcrowding in the prisons and ensure the welfare of the detainees.

After inspecting the Billiri Correctional Centre, Justice Mohammed expressed her satisfaction with the committee’s work in ensuring the release of eligible inmates.

She commended the dedication and assistance of the committee members in carrying out the successful initiative.

The released inmates had various case outcomes: 75 inmates were granted bail, 61 were unconditionally released, and 10 were freed for good behavior at the Gombe Correctional Centre.

At the Billiri Correctional Centre, six inmates were released on bail, 26 unconditionally, and seven were freed for displaying good conduct while serving their sentences.

Emphasizing the significance of fair justice, Justice Mohammed urged all magistrates in the state to thoroughly assess each case before issuing judgments.
