Plateau Hospital Seeks Government Support, Says CMD

In Jos, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Plateau State Specialist Hospital, Prof. Christopher Yilgwan, expressed gratitude towards Governor Caleb Mutfwang for the consistent backing in the healthcare sector.

During a discussion with reporters to mark his one year in office, Prof. Yilgwan emphasized the strides made under his leadership, crediting much of the progress to the state government’s support.

Reflecting on the past year’s accomplishments, Yilgwan remarked, “The strides we’ve made wouldn’t have been possible without the support of His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang. His backing has been pivotal in addressing significant challenges.”

“Upon assuming my role, the hospital confronted severe staff shortages, with new recruits grappling with uncertain pay. Thankfully, we managed to stabilize this situation, but obstacles persist. We urgently require additional nursing staff and specialists to deliver comprehensive care.”

“Additionally, the working environment was unsuitable, with the hospital shrouded in darkness after dark. Through the governor’s support, we implemented solar floodlights and security cameras, greatly enhancing safety and work conditions. These enhancements have fostered a more secure and effective setting for both staff and patients.”

Continuing on, Yilgwan added, “A notable progress has been transitioning from paper-based to e-hospital system. With the governor’s assistance, we’ve established a server and designed a custom platform, set to significantly enhance our operations. This move aims to streamline data management and boost overall efficiency in patient care, positioning Plateau Specialist Hospital as a pioneer in healthcare innovation within the region.

Despite these feats, Yilgwan emphasized the necessity for sustained government backing to uphold and expand these advancements. “The governor’s support has been crucial in our successes thus far, but we require continuous aid to tackle lingering issues and elevate our service delivery,” he remarked.
