Reports indicate that a group of gunmen targeted a military checkpoint along the Amangwu axis of the Amasiri-Owutu-edda highway in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi.
The Ebonyi Police Command has confirmed this incident to the News Agency of Nigeria, as stated by DSP Joshua Ukandu, the Police Public Relations Officer.
According to Ukandu, the attack took place during the early hours of Friday in that region.
It has been reported by the Owutu Police Division that a band of troublemakers assaulted a military checkpoint on Friday morning.
“The presence of casualties remains uncertain. The assault was executed by suspected gunmen on motorcycles in the vicinity,” he elaborated.
