Reports indicate that a military checkpoint on the Amangwu axis of the Amasiri-Owutu-Edda highway in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi was targeted by unidentified gunmen.
The Ebonyi Police Command officially confirmed the occurrence to the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday.
Speaking on the incident, Ebonyi Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, mentioned that the assault took place during the early hours of Friday in that vicinity.
Details provided from the Owutu Police Division suggest that a group of criminals launched an attack on a military checkpoint on Friday morning.
“There is currently uncertainty regarding any possible casualties. The assault was perpetrated by individuals suspected to be gunmen in the region, who utilized motorcycles during the operation,” he further explained.
