Usman Okai Austin urges President Tinubu to Address Nigerians during EndBadGovernance Protest

Calling for active engagement during the ongoing nationwide protest, Usman Okai Austin, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Federal House of Representative election for Dekina/Bassa in Kogi State, has urged President Bola Tinubu to address the nation.

Emphasizing the importance of a presidential address in calming the protesters and providing hope, Okai expressed concerns that the unrest might continue without proper communication from the leadership.

In a recent post titled “When Not To Keep Quiet,” the socio-political commentator highlighted the disappointment felt among Nigerians due to the absence of a reassuring message from the President.

Addressing the ongoing protests, Okai stated, “In times of crisis, a leader’s words can play a significant role in soothing tensions and instilling confidence. Unfortunately, the silence from the President has only fueled the growing anxiety and frustration.”

According to Okai, the demonstrations underscore the public’s call for improved governance and change within the nation. He suggested that a presidential address could have been a pivotal moment to acknowledge grievances, provide reassurance, and outline concrete steps towards addressing the underlying issues.

As the nation eagerly awaits a response from its leader, Okai raised the question of whether President Tinubu will seize the opportunity to speak to the nation or maintain silence, potentially escalating the uncertainty and unrest prevailing in the country.

Yesterday marked the commencement of a 10-day nationwide protest against the current administration, with Nigerians voicing their concerns over the prevalent hunger and hardship experienced across the country.
