Renowned Media Personality Toke Makinwa Condemns Property Destruction During Nationwide Protest

Toke Makinwa, a popular Nollywood actress and media personality, expressed her disapproval towards individuals who are exploiting the ongoing nationwide protest to vandalize and destroy properties belonging to their fellow Nigerians.

On Thursday, a significant number of Nigerians took to the streets to participate in a countrywide demonstration protesting the prevailing economic hardships in the nation.

Reports emerged indicating that certain criminals seized the peaceful protest as an opportunity to pillage government and private properties across various regions of the country.

In her response posted on her social media account later that Thursday, Makinwa criticized these actions as unwarranted.

She pointed out that the victims of these criminal activities were also enduring the same economic challenges as everyone else.

“Engaging in property destruction and theft from fellow suffering Nigerians is highly inappropriate. This is a truly disheartening situation,” she stated.

When challenged by a critic, she clarified that her statement did not insinuate that the unlawful activities were carried out by the protesters themselves.

“I did not imply that the theft and vandalism were perpetrated by the protesters. The victims of these crimes are also Nigerian citizens facing similar hardships. What justifies such victimization?” she further added.
