Words of Wisdom for Students from a Seasoned Newspaper Editor

During the 14th graduation ceremony of DABS Dynamic International School in Mowe, Ogun State, Mr. Yemi Adebisi, the Saturday Editor at Independent Newspapers Limited in Lagos, shared valuable advice with the graduating students. His message centered on the importance of self-discovery and humility.

Adebisi stressed that self-discovery is a key factor in achieving recognition and success. He recalled his own journey, highlighting how he only found true fulfillment and accomplishment after realizing his passion for journalism, despite initially studying Microbiology. He urged the students to explore their talents and uniqueness as a pathway to celebration and fulfillment.

The theme of the event was ‘Hakuna Matata,’ a Swahili phrase that translates to “no problems for the rest of your days” or “don’t worry, be happy.”

In addition to self-discovery, Adebisi also emphasized the significance of humility in one’s journey towards success. He advised the students to persevere, remain grounded, and never compromise their integrity, as these qualities are essential for long-term prosperity and recognition.

Director of DABS Dynamic International School, Pastor Lordson Francis Boateng, expressed pride in the school’s achievements and its commitment to providing a comprehensive education that nurtures both academic excellence and character development.

The event also saw Mr. Olakunle Owolabi, the Chairman of the day, highlighting the need for government support in improving the infrastructure, particularly the roads leading to the school premises.
