Unprecedented Protest: Man Strips Naked in Lagos to Address Hardship

In response to widespread demonstrations across Nigeria highlighting economic challenges and hardships, an unidentified individual opted for a unique form of protest in Lagos State on Thursday.

A video that quickly gained traction on social media captured the man walking the streets of Ojota among fellow protesters, baring it all while chanting “Solidarity forever.”

The PUNCH Metro reported a surge in nationwide protests as Nigerians expressed their dissatisfaction with the prevailing economic difficulties in the country.

The #EndbadgovernanceinNigeria movement kicked off on August 1, 2024, aiming to draw governmental attention to the struggles faced by the populace.

Observing the protests in various parts of Lagos, our correspondent noted that protesters defied a court’s restrictions and flooded the streets, roads, and Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park, venting their grievances.

In a statement published on X.com, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, reassured protesters and residents of the city that law enforcement was present to ensure the safety and security of all individuals.

He expressed, “The situation is under control! The Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni, visited the protest site at Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park, Ojota, Lagos, where he interacted with the protesters peacefully.”.

“He also inspected Alausa, Lekki toll gate, and other areas of the state, noting their peaceful nature. Law-abiding citizens in Lagos continued with their daily activities without any disturbance.

“We are closely monitoring the situation. Your safety is our top priority. The environment remains peaceful!”
