The Labour Party remains unfazed by Okonkwo and others’ defection, assures victory in 2027

Dismissing recent defections of key figures as insignificant, the Labour Party leadership remains resolute and unperturbed.

Accusing some departing members of colluding with opposition parties to sow discord, the party stands firm amidst the exits.

The departure of prominent figures such as Doyin Okupe and several lawmakers has not shaken the party’s foundation, according to the National Working Committee.

In the face of these shifts, the National Legal Adviser, Kehinde Edun, expressed optimism, highlighting that new, dedicated individuals are joining the party quietly, undeterred by the noise of exits.

Emphasizing the narrative of orchestrated discord, the National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, echoed the sentiment that external forces are fueling internal strife within the party.

Despite challenges, the party’s resolve to reconcile and unite for the upcoming 2027 election under the leadership of Peter Obi remains unwavering.

The party is aware of attempts by rival parties to destabilize its ranks by luring members away, but remains steadfast in its commitment to stand by its chosen candidate.
