Two Suspected Cultists Arrested by Police for Robbing Ogun Hotel

In the Ado-Odo-Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, the Ogun State Police Command has apprehended two individuals believed to be members of the Aiye Confraternity, identified as Adisa Abiodun and Rasheed Makinde. They are accused of taking part in a robbery at the Hommies Hotel in the Ijoko community.

According to PUNCH Metro, the suspects were captured by law enforcement officers in the Ntabo community of Ijoko on Tuesday, following information provided by local residents.

Reports indicate that during the hotel attack, the suspects were involved in the sexual assault of a 25-year-old female employee at the lounge and bar.

A police source, who remained anonymous due to lack of authorization to speak on behalf of the command, mentioned that the suspects had been causing fear and unrest in the community for some time.

When the suspects were reportedly causing chaos in the community again, the police were alerted by residents. Officers from the Sango-Ota Division responded swiftly to the scene.

Upon seeing the approaching police, it is said that the suspected cult members attempted to flee, leading to a pursuit by the authorities.

An officer described the group as about 30 individuals who had been suspected of terrorizing the community for an extended period and identified them as members of the Aiye Confraternity.

Confirming the arrest, the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, mentioned that the two suspects had admitted to their involvement in the criminal activities.

“They confessed to being part of a gang responsible for the robbery and assault on the hotel staff. Efforts are underway to locate the victims for further investigation,” Odutola disclosed.

In another related development, two more individuals linked to the same confraternity were apprehended in Ode Remo, Ogun State. The suspects, identified as Waziri Rasheed and Sadiq Adamu, were said to be graduating students at Gateway Polytechnic Sapaade.

According to PUNCH Metro, these suspected cultists, most of whom were students of the polytechnic armed with makeshift weapons, were reportedly causing disturbances on Old Ogere Road before being subdued by the police.

Odutola reported, “Two suspects were detained. A locally made pistol and an unregistered Lexus Toyota Jeep were recovered. We found their student IDs in a bag belonging to them.”

“Efforts are ongoing to capture the fleeing members of the gang who absconded into the nearby bush.”
