Artisan Empowerment by LASG

Over 1,500 artisans in Lagos State have been provided with essential trade tools through a recent initiative.

This support program, part of the 2024 Micro-Enterprise Support Initiative, aimed to assist artisans in various fields.

The beneficiaries received an array of equipment including aluminum fabrication machines, manicure and pedicure kits, hairstyling kits, tile-laying machines, gas burners, cooking pots, and cake mixers.

Additionally, select recipients were given more than 200 Point of Sale machines along with start-up capital and complimentary registration at the Corporate Affairs Commission.

The Micro-Enterprise Support Initiative, under the coordination of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, specifically targets economically disadvantaged women, underprivileged youths, and students by providing skill training and essential empowerment tools.

During the event, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the initiative aligns with the state’s commitment to empower its residents consistently, fostering an inclusive and prosperous community.

Governor Sanwo-Olu stated, “This program aims to uplift vulnerable women and underprivileged youths by equipping them with the necessary resources to establish and expand their enterprises. Through empowering this demographic, our goal is to promote economic development, alleviate poverty, and cultivate a more inclusive society in Lagos.

“I extend my sincere congratulations to the program beneficiaries. I encourage you to utilize this opportunity and resources wisely. These tools are not mere gifts but instruments to help you achieve financial independence and become esteemed representatives of our esteemed state.”

Commenting on the initiative, Bolaji Dada, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, highlighted that the program’s aim is to combat poverty within the state.
