Being elevated to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), 87 lawyers in the country received the honor from the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC).
During the 164th Plenary Session of the Committee, chaired by Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, the lawyers were officially conferred with the prestigious rank.
A statement released by Hajia Hajo Sarki Bello, the Secretary of the LPPC, in Abuja on Thursday revealed that these 87 lawyers were carefully selected from a shortlist of 98 candidates identified last month.
It was further disclosed in the statement that 11 applicants were eliminated from contention for reasons not made public.
The inauguration ceremony for the new Senior Advocates, who have earned their place at the inner bar, is scheduled for September 30.
