State of Emergency: Borno under 24-hour curfew post-explosion during August protests

Following the deadly suicide attack in Kawuri Village, Konduga Local Government Area, the Police in Borno have imposed a 24-hour curfew statewide. The attack resulted in the tragic loss of 16 lives and left 20 others injured amidst ongoing protests across the nation in August.

In a statement released in Maiduguri, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, announced this decision.

The curfew was initiated in response to the bomb blast that claimed the lives of numerous innocent citizens. The directive came after consultations between Governor Babagana Zulum and top security officials in the state to prevent further security breaches.

ASP Nahum stated, “The curfew aims to avert additional loss of life and property, enabling security agencies to maintain law and order and ensure public safety.

During the curfew, residents are urged to remain indoors and refrain from unnecessary movements,” he added.

It is remembered that a suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber unleashed an explosion in a marketplace in Kauri, a remote community in the Konduga region of Borno on Wednesday.
