The Minister laments the looting of Kano NCC park, millions of naira lost

Expressing his sorrow, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, has spoken out against the destruction of a technology hub in Kano just days before its scheduled launch.

The Digital Innovation Park, which was meant to support Nigeria’s technical talent accelerator program (3MTT), was unfortunately set on fire and ransacked during the recent protests.

On Thursday, Tijani lamented the incident, stating, “It is disheartening to hear that our Digital Innovation Park in Kano, which was set to be launched next week to support our technical talent accelerator (3MTT), has fallen victim to arson and looting by protesters.”

The unrest in Kano saw protesters targeting the Nigeria Communication Commission Industrial Park, which was yet to be opened.

Tijani emphasized the immediate consequences of this destruction on planned projects.

“In addition to #3MTT, this facility was supposed to host our buildathon holiday maker program for high school students starting next week,” he explained.

The Minister viewed the damage as a setback in the quest to enhance the technology workforce and generate job opportunities for young people.

“It’s a loss of millions of Naira,” remarked Tijani.
