LATEST: Demonstrators heading towards Kano Government House

A large group of youthful demonstrators have brought the ancient city of Kano to a standstill, protesting with banners carrying various messages.

The protesters initiated their activities from different parts of the city, including Gama, Tudun Wada, Tudun Murtala, and other neighboring areas. They gathered in large numbers, their bodies adorned with a variety of colors.

In certain locations like Hotoro, Maiduguri Road, and Ahmadu Bello Way, some adolescent boys were spotted brandishing weapons, while others were heard shouting, “We demand urgent action from the authorities.”

There was a significant presence of armed police officers, as well as personnel from NSCDC and DSS stationed in key areas. Along Ahmadu Bello Way, police officers acted promptly to confiscate weapons from the protesting young individuals.

Our NewsNow reporter was unfortunately turned away on Ahmadu Bello Way due to reports of escalating unruliness and violence among the protesters.

The demonstrators, mostly below the age of 20, were observed marching towards the Government House.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was reportedly urging the protesters to peacefully proceed to the Government House if their demonstrations were deemed necessary, assuring them that he would personally deliver their demands to the president.
