Response from IGP following detonation of explosive device in Lagos during August 1 protest


Commending the officers for their discovery and safe detonation of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Unit of the Nigeria Police Force.

The incident occurred on Wednesday along Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja in Lagos State, according to a statement signed by the Police PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

Egbetokun encouraged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.

Advising against touching or moving any unfamiliar objects, the statement stressed the importance of maintaining a safe distance and contacting the Police immediately.

The statement emphasized the ongoing efforts of the Nigeria Police to investigate the origins of the IED in Lagos, disrupt any planned attacks, and apprehend the perpetrators, underscoring the essential role of cooperation from law-abiding citizens during these critical times.
