Aisha Yesufu, a prominent rights activist and co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls advocacy group, is calling for the impeachment of Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Yesufu stated that senators would face no opposition should they choose to impeach Akpabio.
In a post on X, Yesufu conveyed her message: “Senators, the time has come to impeach Godswill Akpabio. One of you will step up to replace him as Senate President.
“There will be no resistance. When people are hungry, propaganda holds no power over them. Their hunger will drown out any noise, making propaganda ineffective.”
Her statements were prompted by Akpabio’s mockery of Nigerians planning a protest on August 1 against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The Senate President sarcastically encouraged discontented protesters to proceed, suggesting, “but let us be there eating.”
Acknowledging the widespread hardship experienced by all Nigerians, Akpabio assured that the difficult situation would only be temporary.
