Nyesom Wike Warns Protesters: Government Vigilant Against Mayhem

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has emphasized that the government will not tolerate any acts of violence or chaos.

Speaking in anticipation of the planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 1, 2024, Wike made it clear that the authorities are prepared to maintain order.

During his inspection of the ongoing construction projects, including the Yebu Kwaita Road and Yangoji-Sukuku Ebo Road in the Kwali Area Council, FCT, Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress and assured that the work will be completed by December this year.

Wike’s consistent visits to project sites in the FCT aim to demonstrate the government’s commitment to development, highlighting that protests are unnecessary when progress is evident within the territory.

While acknowledging the nation’s challenges, Wike commended FCT residents for choosing dialogue over protests and urged against unrest that could jeopardize the peace and security of Nigerians.

He reiterated the government’s stance on maintaining law and order, stating, “No responsible government will allow chaos to prevail, risking the safety of the populace and reversing the progress made.”

Discussing the positive impact of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the FCT, Wike emphasized its benefits for both urban and rural areas, emphasizing the importance of patience and cooperation with the government’s efforts.

With a focus on addressing hunger and enhancing infrastructure to boost the country’s economy, the government remains dedicated to improving the welfare and livelihoods of its citizens.
